How to Become a Christian

Growing up, I just assumed that I was going to Heaven. I wasn’t perfect but I did my best and as a result, I thought that I was better than most people. I also went to church and Sunday school every week. It was rare for me to miss at all. Finally, I read my Bible and prayed quite often. To me, I was the perfect Christian and guaranteed to go to Heaven. Imagine my surprise when I learned that good works were not going to get me to Heaven and at that moment, I wouldn’t be going to Heaven. The Romans Road uses verses from the book of Romans to explain why we need salvation, how God provided this salvation, how we can receive salvation, and what are the results of salvation.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

We have all done things that are disappointing to God. There is no one that is perfect and innocent.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The consequence of sin is eternal death (in other words, we are not going to Heaven; we are going to the devil).

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

God loved us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for all sins.

Romans 10:9 That is you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

If you believe in Jesus and make Him Lord of your life, you will be saved.

Romans 10:13 For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Jesus died to forgive our sins and save us from eternal death. Anyone can have this forgiveness if they trust in Jesus Christ.

Romans 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Jesus died for us so we will never be condemned for our sins.

Romans 8:38-39 For I am convinced that neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I didn’t give my life to Christ right away. Shortly after I lost my grandma in a car accident though, I started to realize that death can happen at any time. Then, I read Left Behind, which said that Jesus could come back at anytime to take back His faithful servants. Those that weren’t ready were left behind. I surrendered my life to Christ shortly after that and accepted the forgiveness given for my sins.

If you are ready to surrender your life to Christ, I invite you to pray to God, telling him that you have sinned but that you are ready to accept that forgiveness you were given through the death of Jesus Christ, your Savior and Lord. If not, I implore you not to wait. Not accepting Christ into your life will have horrible consequences. Your afterlife depends on this decision. It will be the most important decision you will ever make.

  1. BAPTIZED INTO CHRIST? BY STEVE FINNELL

What does it mean to be baptized into Christ?

Galatians 3:27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. (NASB)

Baptized into Christ does not mean you have clothed yourselves with Roman Catholicism. It does mean you have been clothed in the clothing of Baptists, Methodists nor any other denomination.

Galatians 3:26-27 You were all baptized into Christ, and so you were clothed with Christ. This shows that you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. (EVR)

Baptized into Christ does not indicate you were children of God before you believed and were baptized into Christ.

Galatians 3:27 because as many of you as were immersed into the Messiah have clothed yourselves with the Messiah, in whom (CJB)

Being immersed into the Messiah does not mean you were sprinkled or poured into the Messiah.

Galatians 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ (KJV)

Being baptized into Christ is not in order to demonstrate your faith to the church nor a testimonial to the community.

Galatians 3:27 You were baptized into union with Christ, and now you are clothed, so to speak, with the life of Christ himself (GNT)

You were not baptized into Christ simply as an act of obedience.

Galatians 3:27 For as many of you as have been immersed into Christ, have put on Christ. ( The Better Version of the New Testament by Chester Estes)

Being immersed into Christ does mean sprinkling unbelieving babies with water.

Galatians 3:26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. (NKJV)

Being baptized into Christ does not mean you were part of the body of Christ before you had faith in Jesus Christ.

Being baptized into Christ does not indicate that you became part of the body of Christ before you were baptized in water.

Being baptized into Christ does not mean that you were a child of God before you were baptized.

Being baptized into Christ does mean baptizing unbelieving infant nor baptizing unbelieving adults.

Jesus said it Mark 16:16 “He who believes and is baptized will be saved…(NKJV)

Men are not saved before they are baptized into Christ.

You are not child of God before you are baptized into Christ.

You are not part of the body of Christ before you are baptized into Christ.

The Lord does not add you to His church until you are baptized into Christ.

WITHOUT FAITH AND WATER BAPTISM YOU ARE OUTSIDE OF CHRIST.
